Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved libraries. The vast array of books that decorate the bookshelves and the amount of knowledge stuffed into a couple pages of one single book has always intrigued me. Even now, I can go to a library and pick up a book and forget the time. Needless to say, visiting libraries has become one of my hobbies.
Many libraries also offer some form of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services in which you can request a resource not found in your library and can borrow books, DVDs, music CDs, etc. I used this service during my college career, and it helped me save money on college textbooks as well as enabled me to read books I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.
Opening a book enables you to dive into that world, whether it be a fictional story or one based on a true story. Reading teaches you so much and can open your mind to fantastic ideas and thoughts. It can even help you learn a whole new language.

物心が着いた頃からずっと、私は図書館が大好きでした。本の棚を飾る膨大な数の本と、数ページに及ぶ1冊の本に詰め込まれた知識の量は、いつも私を魅了してきました。今になっても、私は図書館に行き、本を手にし、時間を忘れることができます。言うまでもなく、私が図書館を訪れることは趣味のひとつになっています。
多くの図書館では、図書館にない資料を取り寄せたり、書籍、DVD、音楽のCDなどを借りることができる何らかの形式の図書館間貸し出し（ILL）サービスを提供しています。私も大学時代に教科書等を借りたり、自分の大学に無い本を借り、この制度を有効に活用しました。
本を開いた瞬間、それがフィクションであろうと、実話に基づいたストーリーであろうと、その本の世界に飛び込む事ができます。読書は心を開き、素晴らしいアイデアや考えに触れさせ、色々な事が学べます。全く新しい言語を学ぶ助けをすることもできます。
