Once upon a time, there was a girl who landed in the bustling city of Beijing, China with two big suitcases and a backpack. At the time, all she really had was a handful of really big dreams to her name.

Against all odds, she had graduated debt free within four years -- something many people seem to take for granted. Every penny she had to her name, she had worked hard for, balancing several jobs at a time. Despite not having much in her bank account, she was full of excitement about the journey ahead.

Beijing, a city intertwined with ancient history and skyscrapers -- it was her city of dreams. China was the country she worked so hard to find a job in despite the job market favoring those with a few years of professional work under their belts. You might think it would be fairly easy to find a job, but visas made it tricky.

Again, somehow against all odds, all of the stars in the sky aligned for her to move to China, and she was beyond ecstatic.

After landing, she started working at a nonprofit that trained Chinese English teachers. The food was magically delicious, just like she remembered it from her study abroad 2 years ago. The people were kind and lived fascinating lives. There were endless adventures at every corner.

By the end of her first job, she had been given leadership roles and was coordinating summer camps using her English as well as Mandarin abilities.

She learned that a full-time job never guaranteed any better treatment than a part-time job. She saw firsthand how favoritism worked in the world and that it wasn’t something that only happened in school.

But she wanted to be more than just an assumed translator; she knew she deserved better. She ended up with a job offer teaching elementary students and reveled in her role until another dream led her down a different path.

She dared to be ambitious.

She showed others what it meant to be a kind soul.

She learned that mountains are there to be moved.

Today, she continues to hope.

Hope that she can heal the broken world she sees, instead of letting it trick her into believing she's the one who's broken. 

She learned to be passionate about her opinions and strongest convictions. 

And she will continue to dream.

Believing in the goodness of all the stars in the world, continuing to align in her favor.

And loving the country she fell in love with over 12 years ago.

ある時、一人の少女が二つの大きなスーツケースとリュックサックを携え、賑やかな中国の北京という街に降り立った。当時、彼女が本当に持っていたのは、数えきれない程の大きな夢だけだった。

あらゆる困難を乗り越え、彼女は借金なしで四年で卒業をしていた――多くの人々が当たり前にできると思っていることを。彼女が持っていたお金は、すべて複数の仕事を掛け持ちしながら懸命に働いて得たものだった。銀行口座にはほとんどお金がなかったけれど、これから始まる旅に胸は高鳴っていた。

古代の歴史と高層ビルが入り混じる北京——それは彼女の夢の街だった。中国は、数年の実務経験を持つ者を優先する就職市場にもかかわらず、彼女が必死に職を探した国だ。仕事を見つけるのは比較的簡単だと思うかもしれないが、ビザの問題がそれを難しくしていた。

それでも、あらゆる困難を乗り越え、天の星々が彼女の為に整い、中国への引っ越しが実現した。彼女はこの上なく有頂天だった。

到着後、彼女は中国人の英語教師を養成する非営利団体で働き始めた。食事は魔法のように美味で、2年前の留学時代を思い出させた。人々は親切で、魅力的な人生を送っていた。街の隅々に、尽きることのない冒険が待っていた。

最初の仕事を終える頃には、彼女はリーダーシップの役割を任され、英語と中国語の能力を活かしてサマー・キャンプを担当していた。

フルタイムの仕事がパートタイムより良い待遇を保証するわけではないと学んだり、世の中で贔屓がどう働くかを目の当たりにし、それが学校だけの現象ではない事を知った。

しかし彼女は単なる通訳以上の存在になりたかった。もっとふさわしい立場があると確信していた。最終的には、小学生を教える職を得てその役割に喜びを見出していたが、別の夢が彼女を新たな道へと導いた。

落地后，她进入一家培训中文英语教师的非营利机构工作。食物神奇地美味，恰如两年前留学时记忆中的滋味。人们友善而生活精彩纷呈，每个街角都藏着无尽的冒险。

在第一份工作结束时，她已获得领导职位，并凭借英语和普通话能力统筹暑期夏令营活动。

她领悟到全职工作绝不比兼职工作更受优待。她亲眼目睹世间偏袒之风如何肆虐，这种现象绝非校园专属。

但她不甘于仅做一名所谓的翻译，深知自己值得更好的发展。最终她获得小学教师职位，在教学岗位上如鱼得水，直到另一个梦想引领她踏上新征程。
